This is a monumental, benchmark Cos d’Estournel that will give not years but decades of pleasure, though I suspect it will close down for a period in its youth, hence my drinking window. The persistent, tobacco-tinged finish can be felt 60 second after the wine has departed. There is a beguiling symmetry to this Saint-Estèphe, as well as unerring mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with ultra-fine tannin that I have never witnessed in any other vintage of Cos d’Estournel. The aromas almost seem to envelop the senses. Deep, almost opaque in color, it sports a very intense but broody bouquet with fathomless deep black fruit tinged with blueberry and violet. We have a limited offer at a very sharp price, while it lasts! Buy a bottle or two, or better yet a few six packs (owc), but don't miss this opportunity to own a classic. Wine arrives next week - Cheers! Chris Cree MW, ġ00 Points Vinous Media - "The 2016 Cos d’Estournel was a bona fide showstopper out of barrel, the best that I had encountered in over 20 years of visiting the estate during en primeur, so my expectations were piled high when I returned to find out how it performs in bottle. Really what more can we say? Double 100 point scores from the top critics only confirm what I knew the second I tasted this from barrel in the spring of 2017 - the 2016 Cos is an electrifying, incredible wine that is one of the top wines of the vintage. Readers who can still find the 2010 should not hesitate, as it is a modern-day classic. The Cabernet Sauvignon harvest did not start until October 7 by that date in 2009 all the fruit was in. The alternation of hot days and cool nights led to a late harvest. In two recent tastings, the 2010 has been positively stellar. Violet, graphite, crème de cassis, licorice and menthol overtones recall the 1996, but the tannins here are much softer, sweeter and more polished. The first impression is one of explosive power, but time in the glass brings out the wine’s more delicate, floral side. Rated 98+ Vinous Media "An eternal wine, the 2010 Pichon Lalande is a total showstopper. Last time I rated this wine, in 2016, I gave it 98 points, and I questioned whether to keep it there, which is already an exceptional score, but I want to mark just how clearly it stood out in this horizontal. For me this is getting better as it ages, starting to rival the 1982 at Comtesse, and I can't wait to keep tasting it over the decades to come. Bright, vibrant tannins make the most of the high levels of acidity that were available in 2010, while matching them pace for pace with concentrated fruit. The texture is just liquid silk and it slowly but surely builds through the palate, gaining in confidence and totally delightful. This is majestically impressive - it sparks to life in your mouth and breaks out an involuntary smile. Rated 100, Decanter Magazine - "Silky, sweet black fruit, black olive and truffle notes from the start. But stored well this wine will age, improve and drink great for years to come.
#Chateau pichon longueville cracked
If you can, give this another 3-5 years at least before drinking, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if you cracked one now and served with a hours of decanter time. Better yet, they made the price right, allowing us to offer it at one of the best prices in the country, with perfect provenance coming direct from Bordeaux. With the threat of 100% tariffs pushed back for the time being, it seems like the Bordelaise are putting some wine into the market, perhaps to take advantage of this window and hedge against potential future fees.

All of this seductive nature, and all of its incredible concentration is juxtaposed with balancing acidity, ripe fine grained tannins, floral top notes and the freshness that the best 2010s can deliver. Add in graphite, complex earthy gravely tones and well integrated oak and you get a powerful yet polished, endlessly complex and layered wine. Mere ordinary descriptors like "plum, cassis and red fruit tones" don't seem to do it justice, with words like "exotic", "sensual", "opulent" coming to mind. Nine years later it has lived up to its true potential, just coming out of its shell and set for decades of enjoyment. It was by my notes one of the very best left bankers in this outstanding vintage. Tasting this wine nine years ago as a barrel sample more than hinted at the potential that lay ahead for this beautiful "super second" growth Pauillac. That’s all there is to it." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media "An eternal wine, the 2010 Pichon Lalande is a total showstopper. Perfect Provenance, Perfect Vintage, Perfect Wine
